The idea of celebrating “Children´s Day” was born on November 20, 1959, when the United Nations General Assembly met in Geneva, Switzerland, where it decided to reaffirm the rights of children universally.
Since then, and although the global celebration takes place on November 20, each country has chosen a special day to celebrate and organize activities to contribute to the well-being of the world’s children.
In Mexico, April 30th, 1924, Children´s Day was celebrated for the first time. And since then, every April 30th, we have been celebrating the children who surround us every day.
Together with the Casa Maya team, we take this day seriously, and we wish you the best Children´s Day ever. This is why we have selected some activities to do with your children in Cancun and around the city.
1- Xavage Park by Xcaret
Located near Cancun, Xavage is Mexico’s newest adventure park and promises to make you spend a wild day. Cool off from the hot Cancun sun by jumping into the water with Float Fun. This activity is suitable for all ages, fun, and laughter guaranteed.
3- Cancun Wax Museum
Find your favorite cult characters, athletes, and other stars – or their wax interpretations – at the Cancun Wax Museum. Located in Cancun’s hotel zone, the museum features more than 100 Mexican and international celebrities, not limited to sports legends, movie characters, musicians and political figures.
Explore the two dozen halls and pose next to personalities such as the Beatles, Gandhi, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more. Kids can get up close and personal with heroes and villains such as Spider-Man or Darth Vader in this family activity. Each impressive wax figure has been carefully crafted with elaborate materials, including make-up and human hair, making them very realistic. The children will love it.
4 – Swim with the turtles
Located between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen is the beach of Akumal, which means in Maya: the place of the turtles. That’s good; it’s for them that you came!
A few meters from the beach, big turtles come to take advantage of the grassy seabed to feed. It’s magical to swim next to them and to see them come to the surface to breathe.
Accessible as soon as the children know how to swim because the turtles can be seen right next to the beach! One afternoon is enough to enjoy these wonders.
